Vivian Kendall “Osprey Therian” 1953-2013

It is with deep regret that we acknowledge the passing of Vivian Kendall, one of Kahruvel’s greatest supporters. Vivian, the creator behind the Second Life® avatar “Osprey Therian,” passed away early Monday morning, December 9th of 2013, from her battle with multiple sclerosis and cancer

This is a brief summary of Vivian’s remembrance page, view the complete page here.

A memorial gathering to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013
at 10:00 am SLT in the Bodega region of the Second Life Mainland.

The gathering will begin with a welcome introduction and brief summary of Vivian’s Real World life and Second Life history. Next, some time for others to publicly express remembrances and chat with each other. Then, at approx. 10:45 or so, a donning of Osprey’s Moth Wings and mass flight up to the Iris Infohub.

Vivian wanted her avatar, Osprey Therian, to continue on as a fictional character in stories and interactive experiences in virtual worlds, much like the role Magellan Linden plays for Second Life. Plans are in motion to fulfill her wishes. The last SL-related Tweet she sent illustrates her playful nature to the very end.

Osprey’s Second Life profile has been updated to reflect Vivian’s passing and the avatar changes. A new Twitter account, @ospreytherian, has been created for the now fictional Osprey Therian character.

To celebrate the transition of Osprey’s new role, she will be going through the unstable portal in the Rodeo region on Sunday, December 15, at 10:00am SLT to help find Salazar Jack. All roleplay friends and cohorts are welcome to attend, assist with the sendoff, or follow her through.

On the evening of Thursday, September 13th, sometime between 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm SLT, an accident occured in the Forest of Kahruvel near the old location of the Rodeo Landing Stones. Several Trust members and officers were injured when a massive explosion devastated land belonging to the Trust with damage extending into the connected regions of Stinson, Rodeo, Noyo and Cowell.

One of the Trust officers, Salazar Jack, is unaccounted for. We have not been able to make contact with him since that evening and his whereabouts are unknown. The others present during the event; HeadBurro Antfarm, Enjah Mysterio, Ilianexsi Sojourner, Champie Jack, Adam Grayson, Osprey Therian and Cessadia Thetan all suffered various non-life threatening injuries and some memory loss.

In the weeks since the accident, officers, group members and concerned residents have begun investigating and documenting the event, conducting research and developing theories. Revelations have also occurred posing new questions and shedding light upon some of the more shadowy aspects of the grid. The Kahruvel web site has been enlisted as a tool to chronicle events, organize related information, and keep interested parties up-to-date. This site will be expanded and reworked as more and varied information becomes known and additional functionality is required.

Salazar’s Gini Signal
The following text appeared on Salazar Jack’s Twitter feed on November 8, 2012, leading to speculation as to it’s meaning and origin:

.... . . .. / \ . .. /\ . . ….. .. . /\. … …./ . .. .

Cessadia Thetan explained the text’s function as an example of a gini signal strength test, but was unable to determine if the gini test was automated or initiated manually.

The Stick Man
A mysterious avatar going by the name “Kahruvel” sent sixteen Trust members each the same photo of a stick figure with a different encoded word inworld on October 22, 2012. The resulting message seemed to read:

Each doorway a door, each door a keyhole,
each keyhole a key-- must rebuild stone circle.
